Welcome to the
A-Z Challenge, a mad rush of 26 post during the month of April, and to start things off we are paying a special tribute to the man who started it all.
Arlee Bird, whose home base is over at
Tossing It Out, started this amazing project in 2010. My own blogs birthday was in July of 2009. Arlee is so unassuming in this whole process that the co-hosts this year wanted to make that he receives the recognition he so richly deserves. So give it up for the A to Z King!
Were you aware I was holding a contest during the Challenge? No? You can read all about it
HERE.
Arlee is cool. Kudos for a fine tradition in blogging!
ReplyDeleteHe is the king alright! I look forward to April every year now!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tribute - and so well-deserved based on the number of us who are enjoying this challenge so much!
ReplyDeleteFirst heard of Arlee through J.L. Campbell's blog. Good man and thanks for starting this sir. Welcome to the A-Z jungle DL.
ReplyDeleteYay! for Arlee. I wonder if he ever thought his initial idea to join bloggers through the alphabet would become so big. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat tribute to a great blogger! Yep, I read about your contest last week. : )
ReplyDeleteI love the A to Z challenge, I'm so grateful to Arlee for getting it up and running every year :)
ReplyDeleteMy thanks to Arlee as well.
ReplyDeleteHip hip hooray, Arlee:-)
ReplyDeleteArlee seems to be a continuing theme for A today. Well deserved I might add.
ReplyDeleteYay for Arlee! So glad I found his blog. Met so many wonderful bloggers through him.
ReplyDeleteThat's right! Lee has made such a huge difference in this community.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with this challenge! It made a HUGE difference on my own blog when I participated last year and it was such fun...

ReplyDeleteArlee sounds cool and what a fantastic idea he came up with.
ReplyDeleteI'll check out his blog when I get a chance. So much to read and check out. :D It's a neat challenge.
ReplyDeleteSo you are a man of few words huh? I look forward to reading the ones you write on this A to Z challenge.
ReplyDeleteArlee is A for Awesome for starting this fest :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear that it is Arlee's birthday, too! Hope to see you at http://citymusecountrymuse2012.blogspot.com/ where we are posting an original poem every day!
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely unassuming, since I had never really heard of him, despite having heard of this blogfest for a few years :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to getting to know more about you this April
ReplyDeleteYeah for Arlee! Nicely done. I hope our plan works - it's more than a blitz if the participants participate! Good start to your random theme...

ReplyDeleteYour posts DL look great and I will stop by.
Yay for Arlee. What a nice idea to honor him today.
ReplyDeleteYour blog's birthday was in July 2009. I'm thinking that's important...like a possible test question for your contest?! Hopefully I'll remember that by May 1, LoL. :)

Great tribute!
ReplyDeleteI know this post is about Arlee, but I want to make it about you...A is for Awesome. I don't think I ever thanked you for being included in the Write Club contest that you hosted. It was an absolute thrill to write about something other than death and have people I didn't know comment about it. It's such a cool concept and I hope you keep it going.
ReplyDeletePamela
Arlee deserves all the tributes.
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! The founding father of A to Z!
ReplyDeleteHi Don .. many are giving their A posts over to Arlee - who definitely deserves much praise for starting us off on this jolly jape each year ..
ReplyDeleteGreatA post .. cheers Hilary
I doubt I'd still be blogging if I hadn't signed up for the 2010 A-Z. I'll always be so grateful to Arlee for getting this amazing challenge up and running. He deserves all the kudos in the world.
ReplyDeleteGreat tribute to MR. A TO Z himself...

Nice of you to honor the guy who started it all. Now I have to go check out his blog. :)
ReplyDeleteLike your contest idea.
Another great tribute to the great founder of A to Z. Thanks DL. God bless, Maria
ReplyDeleteArlee is a treasure, that's for sure. I love seeing him mentioned all around the challenge today!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shout out. :)
ReplyDeleteHurray for Arlee! And hurray for you, DL, for keeping up with the blogging for as long as you have. It's not an easy thing to do. My daughter was born in the same month and year that you started your blog so when we celebrate her birthday in July, I'll be thinking of your blog's birthday too.
ReplyDeleteCan I just guess the trivia answer for this post right now and apply against the actual quiz? I know I won't remember it anymore by the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteThis is funny. So many A to Z bloggers chose to honor Lee as their "A" post, I'm not sure which blogs I've already commented on. But he certainly deserves it.
ReplyDeleteYay for Arlee! I've already visited him this morning. :)
ReplyDeleteArlee rocks! He is totally on the "A" list today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very nice posting to start off the A-Z Challenge!
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute to Arlee!

I think it's wonderful that Arlee's challenge has grown into this huge fest requiring helpers and minions :)
ReplyDeleteHaving run our own blog hop I know how tough it is, but thanks to Arlee it gets better every year!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to start off this challenging challenge - with a tribute to its starter and on his birthday!
ReplyDeleteJust read about the contest a few minutes ago, and what a great idea! Way to innovate. =)
ReplyDeleteLee rocks! He is amazing.
ReplyDeletePerfect way to start off the challenge!
ReplyDeleteAllison (Geek Banter)
Already stopped by Arlee to say my "thanks", he really deserves the appreciation!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, A is for Arlee. Well said and Lee, to his credit, exchanges good natured banter with me and my somewhat satirical slant on the alphabet challenge.
ReplyDeleteA fitting tribute and DL, wishing you and all those participating, much positive interaction and fulfilment.
Gary
Great post, DL. It is absolutely amazing how huge the A to Z has become. Many thanks to Lee and to everyone who has helped keep the Challenge going these past years.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being part of the editing group. I can imagine how much extra time it takes, besides writing your own blog.
ReplyDeleteArlee has brilliant ideas, I think. It's impressive how big it has become.
ReplyDeleteYay for Arlee! This is my third year doing AtoZ. No worries.

I'm up for a challenge, I wonder what you will do for your birthday :)

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to be part of this challenge. Thanks to Arlee for starting it all!
ReplyDeleteCheers for Arlee :D
ReplyDeleteThanks to you DL for what you do!
It is going to be a great challenge
A ha! I thought I had posted a comment here but then I realised I gave up 'cause my internet was being crap.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Arlee is legendary and this is such a great tradition he's started!
So, you've been with A to Z from the beginning? How inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first go with it. Hopefully I can keep up!

ReplyDeleteVery cool of him to start such an amazing challenge! Great tribute :)

Writing Through College
This is truly a great project. I did the challenge in 2011 but quit part of the way through last years and actually didn't blog again until nearly the end of the year in general. I found it to be a great experience the year I made it through though. I look forward to this one, and since I have already have my posts plotted out, I should make it through.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this project this year! Have a great April!
ReplyDeleteBrand spanking new blogger here. I attended Arlee's talk this past Saturday, learned of the A to Z Challenge, signed up tonight, joined the Challenge, and wrote my first blog. MUCH to learn and off to a rocky start getting my Blog page to cooperate. But having a great time in the process. Especially love reading everyone's posts. Looking forward to more. THANKS, ARLEE!!
ReplyDeleteYay for Arlee!
ReplyDeleteHooray for Arlee! Great idea that so many enjoy.
ReplyDeleteGot in 5 comments, just 5 more to go (at a minimum ...) *grins*

I actually randomly stumbled upon Arlee's less frequented blog Wrote by Rote when I was clicking through links on the A-Z Sign Up List. I noticed who the blog belonged to and thought, "Hey, isn't that the same guy that runs this whole A-Z thing?" I doubled checked and affirmed my suspicion with delight! I think it's pretty swell that all of you did your first posts as a shout out to him!
