The Bernard Pivot Blogfest

Nicole at One Significant Moment at a Time recently surpassed the 500 followers milestone and is celebrating with a blogfest designed to bring us together, to get to know each other better. She is accomplishing this by using Bernard Pivot's famous questionnaire and I’m happy to take part in it.

Anyone who's watched Inside the Actor's Studio will be familiar with the questionnaire. The show's host, James Lipton, asks it of every celebrity guest at the close of the interview. The questionnaire was originally created by Bernard Pivot, a French journalist, for the cultural series he hosted on French television from 1991-2001, called Bouillon de Culture. My answers are listed below, but make sure you drop by Nicole’s blog (click on the link above) to see the list of everyone else whose participated.

What is your favorite word? Tolerance

What is your least favorite word? Ignorance

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Music is my one constant when it comes to getting me revved up, mellowed out, or inspired. Whenever I need a change in direction, music shows me the way.

What turns you off? Politics…with a passion!

What is your favorite curse word? It’s actually a phrase. Shit the Bed!

What sound or noise do you love? Unrestrained laughter.

What sound or noise do you hate? A crying child.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I’m going to go against the grain here and not say being a full-time writer (too obvious). So, how about Ski Instructor.

What profession would you not like to do? IRS Tax Auditor.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Hammons, party of one…right this way.  :)

  6. Shit the bed is my new favorite curse words now! Can't wait to try it out, LOL. And I'll bet your reason behind not wanting to be a ski instructor has to do with hating cold weather, yes?

    Thanks for playing along!!

  7. I would like the word tolerance more if it weren't use by some with so much ignorance. Like in that Ban commercial where people are unrolling a sign that says "Ban Intolerance."

    How very . . . uh-hm . . . tolerant of them. :)

  8. "SOMEONE SHIT ON THE COATS!"

  44. I have never heard that curse phrase before. Boy, I’m learning a lot on this blogfest.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh how I HATE the sound of crying children! Which makes it a little weird that I spend my summers working with little kids... I do love them the 90% of the time they're NOT throwing tantrums!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Love the sound of uncontrollable laughter! Perfect!

And the profession I said I would HATE is a politician - so I think we match pretty well in that department! :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Politics...get a rope. Nothing will rune a good conversation as fast as politics.

Seeing as how I live with a musician, I agree music is very inspiring.

I am glad to meet you,

  48. Okay, I'm adopting shit the bed, too. I only curse when I'm angry, and I'm pretty sure this phrase will take the edge off.

    ReplyDelete
  49. This made me laugh! I have heard some pretty creative curses in my time but my mind has become so pure that I can't remember any of them. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Love your favorite and least favorite words! And your curse phrase, of course :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Everyone has such good answers for the job they wouldn't want to do, but tax auditor would be right up toward the top of my list too.

    ReplyDelete
  52. These are great. Your favorite and least favorite words, especially!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Unrestrained laughter - you can't beat it!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Egh! Politics! Yeah, that's a pretty bad one. I go out of my way to avoid reading the news, and expect the major events will trickle through in conversation. That way I can keep all the national crap as far away from me as possible.

And while I want to ask questions about the semantics of "shit the bed" (which, I agree, is hilarious), I think it makes me sound like a creepy weirdo, so I'm going to restrain myself. :/

    ReplyDelete
  55. IRS Tax Auditor - oh my! I have this great picture of three types of terrorists: Middle Eastern, Irish and American. Guess what the American terrorist is? Yup, a guy in a suit with a briefcase that says "IRS"

    ReplyDelete
  56. I wouldn't want to be a taxman either.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Nice short answers, love it. Yeah you got the attention you craved with your curse phrase. I can't even write it! Maybe you'll have to rethink before you get to the Pearly Gates and I'm not s*i*tt*n you!
